Tsuyoshi Ueno is an artisan trained in Fukui and Wakayama, studying under Shigeyoshi Morioka to master the ancient art of Nanban-yaki. This style blends the hues of raw clay with the enchantment of the blazing fire, embodying the aesthetic of Wabi Sabi through 7-10 days of intense firing, requiring an immense amount of dense wood. The beauty of each piece is contrasted by the delicate details and robustness of the clay, and they deepen in color and age with grace as they're used. Ueno's basic concept is to create simple, functional vessels that evoke daily pleasure in the enjoyment of tea.
