正岩老丛水金龟 "Golden Turtle"
Historically, the naming rules of Wuyi rock tea are roughly: named after the leaf shape, named after the tree shape, named after the place of origin. The name of the water beetle comes from the shape and color of its leaves. Gold refers to the sparkling appearance of its fully open leaves when they refract the sunlight under the sun. Turtle refers to its leaf veins having patterns like a turtle shell sparkling in the sun. The leaves are smooth and have strange patterns. The plants are mesophytic and thrive next to a creek with a constant water source. One of the four important tea bushes it has a strong resemblance to Tie Luo Han "Iron Monk" but stands out with an intense fruit taste and layered expressiveness. It leaves a striking impact for its uniqueness.
Since 2017, Ye Qitong, a well-known Intangible Cultural Tea Master, has been meticulously handcrafting our Wu Yi Yan Cha. With a careful selection of premium varietals grown in the Wu Yi Shan Gorge, the result is a collection of expertly-made Cliff Rock Oolongs, considered some of the most exceptional teas in China. These teas are distinguished by the age of their trees and the use of traditional charcoal-firing techniques.
